Tata Motors has recently announced that they will plan on moving Land Rover operations to China within this two years. The owner of Jaguar mentioned that their JLR plan to close down one of their 3 factories in UK later this decade.

The CEO, Carl Peter-Forster has confirmed their start off with lower end Land Rover models and assure the same quality like the British workforce.

“We believe there are ample opportunities for the business both in India and the UK to grow,” Forster said. Tata who also produce the ultra cheap car Nano, said that they still are talking to interested partners to avoid steep taxes on imported vehicles.

Land Rover is recently assembles a small number of it’s Defender large utility vehicles in South East Asia and South Africa, and also plan next year on bringing this small volume of complete knock down (CKD) Land Rover production in India.

CKD are one way of assembly to gain less labour and import cost and in fact, this is also a way for the assembly to circumvent tax and offer the car production cheaper.
