
It’s a new Subaru Legacy 2010 unveiled. With customer demands, the Legacy will be having some additional features comparable to price paid for the car. The car is still keeping to use 2,751mm which is 800mm longer that the previous version. The wheelbase grows 35mm, getting better packaging and more spaces dedicated to the interior one. The car is even 90mm wider and 80mm taller than the previous one.
To add more stability and comfortability, the Legacy uses a MacPherson strut at the front and dual wishbone as the rear suspension. The front one is mounted to the engine cradle to improve steering response and add more rigidity. It is now comes with the option of CVT Transmission called Lineartronic CVT, the mated version to Subaru traditional engine boxer and symmetrical all wheel drive. The system has higher torque capacity and lower friction by using chain type system, thus giving a more efficient condition better that belt CVTs. There is also a manual transmission with 6 pre defined virtual gear ratio, swappable with paddle shifters on the steering wheel. While having to look at the engine, few options are available.
The baseline Legacy uses 2.5 liter single cam boxer which gave out 170 horsepower at 5,600 RPM, and 230Nm of torque at 4,000 RPM. The middle version is 2.5GT, featuring the 2.5 liter engine with turbocharged to produce 265 horsepower and 350Nm of torque between 2,000 to 5,200 RPM, which only available to 6 speed manual transmission. Whilst, for those who seek for power, the Legacy 3.6R is here, featuring the 3.6 liter engine 256 horsepower at 6,000 RPM and 335 Nm of torque a 4,400 RPM, which only available at 5 speed automatic transmission.
