Did you know that a car moves through atmospheric air on the road. As the car moves the air exerts pressure on it. One would presume that the pressure would be in the direction opposite to the one in which the car is moving. Even this reason is correct, but the air also exerts pressure in another direction. A fast moving car would experience an upwards thrust. This principle keeps the car grip on the road will be lessened due to the upwards thrust. To countering the upwards thrust, car spoiler are use for it.

The plan can take off from the ground when the plan moves fast on the runway by an airplan wing. This is because an upward force on the airplane is generates by the airplane wing. But, the function of a car spoiler is just the opposite. It generates a downward force on the car. The spoiler help the car to grip on the road more stronger. Thus, the drive becomes safer.

    I might be wrong…
But rear spoiler only works well if your car is 4 wheel drive like nissan skyline, some auldey, etc. And also rear powered wheel like some american muscle car like erm… not sure the brand name… Because yes, spoiler generate downward thrust so the “powered wheel” have a good grip when moving as fast as 150Km/h.

p/s: 150Km/h is the speed of MAP single engine plane to take off.

For FR like toyota and proton, I think it’s look silly to put BIG not very usable spoiler behind it. Beside, it’s not allowed by JPJ! ;-)

So how to make the proton become stable?
Add super charger to your engine, hardened the absorber(depends on your city road type) lowered the suspension, and use if possible 22″ RIM with thin tubeless tyres filled with nitrogen.

Besides, seting up a good front bumper will helps to reduce the “aerofoil” effects.

    p/s: I might be wrong on what I’m saying above… ;-)
